At Sirma, managing electronic waste (e-waste) is a strategic priority aligned with our commitment to sustainability and regulatory compliance. As an IT services company, we recognize the environmental impact of discarded electronic equipment and have developed a comprehensive approach to minimize, reuse, and responsibly dispose of e-waste. Our philosophy follows an inverted pyramid: Prevent, Reduce, Recover, Reuse, Recycle, Dispose.
We reduce e-waste through cloud adoption, efficient inventory management, and extending the lifecycle of IT hardware via repairs and upgrades.
When equipment reaches the end of its operational life, we prioritize reuse—organizing tenders for resale and donating functional devices to various external projects. For non-functional equipment, we partner with certified recyclers who extract valuable materials and ensure safe disposal. We maintain a recycling rate of 70% and aim to keep the average hardware usage above 5 years, reflecting our focus on longevity and resource efficiency.
